BarCamp is a “participatory unconference”, so you, the attendees are going to be making the event as great as it can be. The idea is that everyone who comes takes part in some way: which might be running a session, taking photos, live blogging, live facebooking and tweeting of the event etc. For those of you who want to run a session, this is what you need to know:

Break-out Sessions
Session slots are a few minutes long, and have at least 2 minutes between them. We will have people group themselves for sessions, and plenty of break out spaces for continuing the conversation afterward.

Session Topics
You can run a session on anything you want, really, anything. Your session needn’t be technical or formal, and can be in any style you are comfortable with. We had sessions on all sorts of topics last year such as SEO, Open Source, Monetization, Revenue & Business Models (and plenty of other stuff), right through to advanced discussions on Venture Capitalists, Programming, Hardware and Web Design. Take your pick!

A good tip is to head to sessions that you know less about, that way you will learn more. If you don’t see a session on something you are interested in, you might want to run a discussion or sharing session where you can all just talk about something – even if its about your dissatisfaction of the event.

Some confirmed topics to be discussed at Barcamp Nigeria are:

How to Create local content for Nigerian web market

How the use of Social Media can change your business

Internet Business Models

How and why you should get funding for your start-up

If you wish to have a session or for further enquiries, please send an e-mail to barcampnigeria@gmail.com or call 08037239053 - Femi

Thank You.
